Jr Civitans

CLUB SPONSOR: Destiny Smith

What is the Junior Civitan Club
  • Civitan means “citizen”.
  • Junior Civitans are sponsored by the Civitan International with clubs all around the world.
  • SHS Junior Civitans are also sponsored by the local Civitan Organization.
  • Junior Civitans emphasize good citizenship and leadership development.
  • Junior Civitans are a “service” club, which means they “serve” others – in our schools, our communities, our homes, and our churches.
  • Most Junior Civitan projects are for service, not money, but we are required to conduct at least one fundraiser each school year.

Junior Civitan Membership Application

*Will be posted at a later date.

How to Remain a Member in Good Standing
  • Attend all meetings.
  • Participate in ALL projects. Members may miss NO MORE THAN one during-school project and one after-school project. If you are unable to participate in a project, you must preapprove it with Mrs. Smith. Mrs. Smith will determine if your absence from the activity is excused or unexcused. Exceeding the allowance of missed projects or failure to have your absence preapproved may result in dismissal from the club.
  • Demonstrate good behavior. Junior Civitans should display respectability, trustworthiness, and leadership qualities. Therefore, Junior Civitans should not receive discipline referrals. Discipline referrals will be checked at the end of each six weeks. Discipline referrals may result in dismissal from the club.
  • Maintain good grades. Junior Civtans should demonstrate dependability and leadership qualities. Therefore, members should maintain an overall “C” average in each course. If a member’s grades have dropped below a “C” average, he/she/they will be put on probation for the next six weeks. At that time, if the member’s grades have not been brought back to a “C” average, he/she may be dismissed from the club. If the member has brought his/her/their grades back up to a “C” average, he/she/they will be reinstated as being a member in good standing.

You must be in good standing to be eligible to order a cord for graduation or to use on college applications.
