Syllabus Visual Arts 1
Syllabus: Visual Arts I
Instructor:  C. French

Course Description: Visual Arts I is a introductory level visual arts studio course that may fulfill an Elective credit for any student interested in the Arts.  visual Arts I is a studio course and students will be expected to produce works of art using a variety of media. Many students who consider themselves "non-artists" may be nervous to be enrolled in the class: know that I will be grading on effort and completion of the assignment as well as creativity.  Your attendance is extremely important.  Complete your assignments on time, make an honest effort on all projects, and be open to new ideas.
We will be exploring many different media (art materials) including graphite, watercolor, and acrylics.  You will be responsible for doing some homework, bringing some supplies from home for certain projects, and being ready to work daily.  Do not assume that you can complete any project in one day, or leave off work until the final day.  You must make diligent efforts and use your time wisely to receive an acceptable grade.

Course Objectives:  To introduce students to the world of Visual Arts, using a variety of 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional media, art history and original art production.

Fees: There is a $40 fee for Visual Arts which covers bulk purchase items needed for the course.

Supplies:  Your supplies must be brought to class every day.  All supplies that are property of the Southside High School Art Department must be used in the correct manner and with respect.  Any intentional misuse of supplies will be dealt with as a discipline issue.
